Tony McGuiness began his career playing with numerous bands in the early 80s on the Irish music scene. He formed the famous Irish band Aslan in 1982 with frontband Christy Dignam. Over the next 25 years, released a string of highly acclaimed albums which included 5 studio albums (4 of which were No.1), 2 Live albums (1 of which was No.1 Live), and 2 compilation albums (1 of which was a No. 1).
Tony helped pen some of the bands greatest hit songs such as Hurt Sometimes and Crazy World. He also wrote an international hit song for another hugely successful Irish band, The Script called ‘If You See Kay’.
During the period of 1986, Aslan were honoured with The Stag/Hot Press "Most Promising New Band" award. 1987 seen Aslan support David Bowie at Slane Castle in Ireland.
In 1993, the bands most loved and arguably best known single Crazy World was awarded "Single of the Year at the Hotpress Awards. Aslan won the Best Irish Band at the 2008 Meteor Awards. Shortly afterwards Tony made his announcement that he was leaving the band to move to Australia. He performed as a solo artist in many venues across Australia, which led to a high profile slot opening for soul singing legend Dionne Warwick.
